Shannon Honeycutt

AMPWDA Trainer

Shannon's interest in dogs developed at a young age while participating in 4-H, Her first dog was an Australian Cattle dog mix who would follow along and help bring in the cattle. She completed 10 years in 4-H and remained an active leader in dog 4-H. Later in life she began to become active in other dog sports and trainings including Canine Behavior, Scent Theory, Agility, Herding, Conformation, Barn Hunt and Lure Coursing.

Her daughter Lillian, wanted to show Bloodhounds in AKC and we purchased our first one in 2016. Lillian also wanted to become involved in SAR, however at such a young age it was difficult to find anyone that would work with a young teenager. However that all changed when she found AMPWDA, Dan and Tony invited us in with open arms. Lilly and Bear quickly blossomed, all the while mom was taking her to trainings with the Cattle Dog in tow. She discovered that the Cattle Dog loved HRD and so, Lilly and Shannon attended their first seminar together way back when.

The work involved with building a solid K-9 SAR Team is immense, but the payout is big. After Lilly moved out for college, Shannon acquired her own bloodhound to remain active in AMPWDA Mantrailing and HRD. Her training has now spanned many states and organizations to bring a greater based knowledge and to be able to work with all breeds of dogs. She looks forward to continuing the journey with her SAR Family..
